A one-day event has a different problem from a shop. You are not building recognition; you are helping people find a field.
The job is wayfinding
At a fair, a race or a festival the balloon is doing something quite specific: telling arriving traffic where the entrance is, from further away than any sign on a fence post can manage.
That changes the placement. Put it at the entrance, not in the middle of the site. Visible from the approach road, not from the field.
Sphere or blimp
For a single day of wayfinding, a sphere is often enough, and cheaper. Nobody needs to read anything; they need to see where to turn.
A 5.5-foot sphere is $351 blank. Choose a blimp when the name matters as much as the location, for instance a sponsor who is paying to be read.
Arrange the gas before the week of
The classic one-day-event failure is realising on the Friday that you need a helium account and a cylinder.
Open the account when you book the balloon. A 5.5-foot sphere takes 113 cubic feet, well inside one 200 cubic foot cylinder, so a single cylinder covers most single-day events with room to spare.
Or have someone else do it
In greater Phoenix and Tucson we run the whole thing: $247.25 a day for a balloon, $297.25 for a blimp, including helium, installation, weather monitoring and removal.
For a one-off event with volunteers rather than staff, this is usually the right answer. No cylinder, no gas account, no judgement call about the wind on the day.
